The II. National Workshop on Clean Energy Technologies, organized by the OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Directorate and with the active contribution and coordination of the OSTİM Renewable Energy and Environmental Technologies Cluster (OSTİM Enerjik), was held under the title SMR (Small Modular Reactor) Technologies.
The workshop, which aims to strengthen industry-academia-government collaboration, was realized through the cooperation of OSTİM Technical University, Gazi University, Gazi University Energy Systems Society, and Ankara Branch of the Chamber of Electrical Engineers.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, which was attended by a large number of representatives from the Academy, the Turkish Armed Forces, public institutions, and the private sector, OSTİM OSB Board Chairman Orhan Aydın emphasized the importance of end-to-end planning in nuclear energy and stressed that Turkey should develop its own technology. Aydın stated that Organized Industrial Zones offer a strong user potential for SMR reactors and expressed the importance of joint studies with OSBÜK in this field.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Abdullah Buğrahan Karaveli, President of the Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mining Research Institute (TENMAK), stated that efforts to introduce SMR technologies to Turkey are progressing rapidly.
OSTİM Enerjik Board Chairman Yaşar Çelik, meanwhile, drew attention to the critical role of university-industry-government integration in the development of SMR technologies, emphasizing that clusters are the natural coordinators of this process.
