As you know, the green transition has now moved from being a voluntary initiative to a necessity. The responsibilities of producers, consumers, civil society organizations, business organizations, and governments in combating climate change are increasing. One of the most important concrete steps taken is the Paris Climate Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to 1.5°C if possible. The 196 countries party to the agreement declare their National Intended Contributions in accordance with the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities.
One of the most important policy instruments that the EU plans to implement under the Green Deal is the Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism. With this mechanism, the EU aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions both within its borders and globally.
Within this framework, under the "Turkey Green Industry Project: Supporting Green Innovation Activities of Industrial Organizations," to be implemented with the support of the World Bank, a total of $450 million in incentives will be provided to industrialists and businesses by 3 institutions: KOSGEB, TUBITAK, and the Ministry of Industry.
Within the scope of the project, KOSGEB will provide credit support for activities to be carried out by industrial enterprises in thematic areas such as renewable energy, resource efficiency, waste management, circular economy, and similar fields; TÜBITAK will provide grant and repayable financing support for mentoring activities that will guide industrialists in their green transformation processes and for R&D and innovation activities aimed at developing technology-based solutions needed by companies; and the Ministry of Industry and Technology will provide financial support for the analysis of the needs related to “Green Transformation in Industry” (on a sector and technology basis) and for studies within the scope of defining the Green Technology Taxonomy.
